Ask for a proof
One sheet, on your paper, in your ink, by post.
Tell us what you want printed, roughly how many, and the ink and paper you have in mind. We reply with the questions we need answered before the form can be set, and once those are settled the proof goes in the post.
What happens after you send this
Your message arrives in the shop mailbox and is read on the next press day. The reply asks for the artwork file if it is not already with us, settles the size, the stock and the ink, and confirms the smallest run for what you want. Nothing is booked at that point. When the artwork is agreed we make the plate, pull the proof and post it to you with a short note. You mark it up or approve it, and the run is booked from your answer.
If the job is one we do not take, the reply says so plainly and points you toward the process that suits it.

What to have ready
The artwork, as a vector file or a clean black scan at finished size. The card size and whether it is flat or folded. The count. The ink, as one of the six house colors or a swatch of your own. For a correspondence set, whether the envelopes are lined and whether the flap carries a return address.
What we will ask about
Lines that may be too fine to hold. Solids that may be too large to ink evenly. Whether two colors touch. Whether the date on an invitation is on the artwork, because we print what is on the sheet and add nothing. And a postal address for the proof, which we keep only for as long as the job runs.

What we do not need
A layout, a mock-up or a design brief; we print artwork and do not draw it. A deposit or a card; nothing is charged at the proof stage and there is no online checkout on this site. A phone call; the shop mailbox is answered on press days and everything about a job is easier to settle in writing, with the file attached.
